



BIOGRAPHY
Maria Jones began her training at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts and went on to study opera at the Royal Northern College of Music. She made her professional début as a Principal Artist with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy Theatre, singing Pitti Sing (The Mikado), title role (Iolanthe) and Phoebe (The Yeomen of the Guard). She later performed Pitti Sing in Rome and the USA with Carl Rosa and with D’Oyly Carte at the Savoy Theatre.
Maria has sung Madame Dangervill (AdrianneLecouvreur) and Suzy (La Rondine)/Holland Park Festival Opera; title role (Carmen)/Clonter Opera; Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Mme Larina (Eugene Onegin),Tisbe (LaCerentola)/English Pocket Opera; Olga (Eugene Onegin)/Kentish Opera; Schwertleite and Siegrune (DieWalküre) and Flosshilde (Das Rheingold)/The Mastersingers conducted by Anthony Legge.
Last season she appeared in Die Meistersingers and Les Troyens/Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano; and Les Troyens/BBC Proms. Recent engagements have included a concert performance of Carmen (title role) in Oxford and opera and Jazz concerts in Lanzarote with pianist Ivo Neame . Maria covered the role of Grimgerde (Die Walküre) for the Longborough Festival Ring Cycle and recently made her début at the Royal Festival Hall as Rossweissse (Die Walküre) which was broadcast live on BBC Radio Three.
Maria made her debut with the Royal Ballet performing Im Treibhaus-Wesendonck Lieder in Tokyo With the Tokyo Philharmonic. A piece she later performed for a charity Gala with the Royal Ballet.
Maria has toured with Opera Della Luna performing the role of Tessa (Gondoliers) at the Lowry Theatre, Manchester and has performed the role of Countess Charlotte (A little Night Music) at West Green for Opera Project.
This season Maria covered Mahler's song cycle Das Lied Von Der Erde for the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House and in New York. For the Royal Opera Maria sang the role of Second Lay Sister in Suor Angelica.
